Huge colourpop lippie haul + reviews

I have wanted to try colourpop’s lip products for so long but expensive international shipping and customs duties have kept me from making an order. Once they announced big summer sales, I couldn’t stop myself from buying quite a few lippies. The package  that I received was really pleasing for my aesthetic eye, all the products were packed properly and there was sweet ‘handwritten note’ along small information booklet. I was really happy with it so far but how did I feel about their lippies? Lets see!

Overall review

All of the liquid lipsticks that I ordered were mini sized Ultra Satin lipsticks. Five of them came in a kit called ‘On a Whim’ and one I got for free. They didn’t dry my lips which was a big plus. Small minus was that some of the darker shades were really hard to apply. It felt like the lipstick just didn’t want to stick everywhere evenly.  Also something that disappointed me was that the shades looked really different on my lips than on the tube. I also ordered their lippie stix and a matching lip pencil, but let’s get into that later. First I want to ramble about the Ultra Satin lipsticks and their shades.

Left: Stud  Right: Mess Around

Stud –  I was little afraid to try this one on, it looked really orange on the tube and I just don’t rock orange shades. Now that I look at it on my lips I actually really like it.  It’s such a pretty, soft and warm color for summer days. This is the only shade from the collection that colourpop does not make as a full size.

Mess Around – I absolutely love this color. It’s unique and really different from my other nude shades. It turns more towards cold tones than warm (which is something that I usually go for). I can already see myself wearing this a lot especially when the weather gets more cold again.

Left: Prim Right: Dopey

Prim – I got this as a free sample and I was so happy with it when I swatched it to my hand. I have been searching for a perfect red lipstick and this filled all my needs. I absolutely love how it looks on my lips but it was so hard to apply on and it just smudged all over. But I will live with it because I love the color so much.

Dopey – This shade I thought I would hate but I fell in love with it. It’s really flattering soft pink and oh how easily and evenly it applied on. I think it’s really wearable and anyone could pull it off.

Left: TooLips Right: Magic Wand

TooLips – This one is way too dark for me. It makes my skin look really pale, which is something that I don’t want especially now that it’s summer. It’s really beautiful purplish shade, I just don’t see myself wearing it.

Magic Wand – This shade is really plain nude and I don’t know if I like it or not. Online the color looked more pink but actually it’s really warm beige.  For me it feels wrong to wear this light color but then again somehow I have ended up putting it on quite a few times already.

As I earlier mentioned I also bought Colourpop’s lippie stix in shade Boys Town and a matching lip pencil to go with it. The formula of the lippie stix is soft and creamy which I like, but it fades away really easily. The lip pencil in other hand is very pigmented and it leaves clean lines. The shade is such a nice everyday color and definitely my favorite from everything that brought. What a surprise since I am sucker for nice nude shades.

So that’s all about my Colourpop haul/review, hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. What was your favorite shade? Also check out my lipstick favorites if you want to see more of my lipstick rambles (got some killer nude shades there).

What’s in my makeup bag?

Like most girls I adore makeup and I like putting it on as well as I can. It has taken me a long to actually find the perfect products for my face and skin. Right now I am quite happy with my everyday makeup but I know I will sooner or later have a need to try something new and just replace most of them. When I read beauty blogs I am always open for some good old ‘what’s in my makeup bag’ post because I am such a curious person and I just love to see what other people use on their face in daily basis. So I thought it could be fun peek into my makeup bag and ramble about my favorite products.

Foundation // Powder // Primer // Highlighter pen // Concealer // Under eye concealer // Powder brush – Real Techniques // Foundation brush – Real Techniques  // the black brush is just some random one from drugstore

For me, base is the most important thing when it comes to makeup. If you don’t do that properly nothing looks good in my opinion. I once decided to put little more money into my foundation and powder and I am so glad I did that. Mac studio fix has been my life saver. It gives full coverage with perfect matte finish which is all I could ask for. Mac’s Mineralize skin finish powder is a perfect match to it (obviously). It doesn’t make my face feel baked even though it has amazing coverage too. And since I haven’t praised great coverage enough yet Nars Radiant creamy concealer is worth mentioning for. Let’s just say it does it’s job when it comes to my imperfections.

If you have dark circles around your eyes in daily basis you know how hard it is to hide them. Under eye concealer by Lumene is my another life saver because it actually does something for the dark circles (thank god). I also use a highlighter pen by Dermosil to get better coverage underneath my eye.

Brow palette // Brow wiz // Brow gel // Eye makeup brush // Trio concealer

Eyebrows have become very important part of my makeup, just like for most of the people nowadays. My hair color is something between blonde and brown so it’s quite easy to find good shade for my eyebrows. I use Clarins brow palette to define my eyebrows and get them in shape. And to fill them in I use a Brow Wiz by Anastasia Beverly Hills. The pencil is really thin and sharp which makes it easy to use. I absolutely adore it and I am pretty sure that I’ll never find a product that beats it. To get the perfect final touch for my eyebrows, I first define my brow line with the pink shade from the trio concealer by Dermosil then I apply brow gel also by Dermosil. It makes the brows stay in shape and stick with me through the day.

Roller lash

I don’t use eyeshadow or eyeliner in my everyday makeup because honestly I am so bad at doing eye makeup. I only curl my lashes and apply mascara. I have tried quite a few mascaras and Benefit’s Roller Lash is the one that meets my needs. The best thing about it is that it doesn’t have fallout at all.  It also lifts and curls my lashes nicely, not making them sticky.

Lips and highlight

Shimmer blush // Highlighter // Lipstick // Lip liner // Fan brush by kicks

First the lips. I have tried to twist using liquid lipsticks lately because my lips have been so dry for the past few weeks. So currently I am obsessed with this gorgeous lipstick by Maybelline. I use it in a shade Bronzed which is a beautiful light nude color. It’s really soft and creamy on the lips so obviously it doesn’t make them dry at all. Again to get a better final result I use a lip liner by NYX in shade Vanilla Sky. It’s beautiful blonde color and perfect match for the lipstick.

Then last but not least the highlighter. Contour is another thing besides eye makeup that I am not really good at so I don’t bother contouring when it comes to my everyday makeup. I use The Balm’s highlighter to get that pretty glow for my face. If I want to get glow but also little blush on the cheeks I use Benefit’s Shimmer Blush. It’s perfect if you are looking for that natural radiance for your cheeks.

So that was little peek into my makeup bag, hope you found it as interesting to read as it was for me to write. If you are interested to read more about my favorite products you should check out my Winter season lipstick favorites – blog post.

Winter season lipstick favorites

I am not an expert when it comes to make up, but it doesn’t stop me from obsessing over every new trend that comes along. Right now nudes are on everyone’s lips, and for sure on mine too. A year ago I loved burgundy and dark red shades but it’s all new game now. I have way too many different brown/beige lippies which is why I wanted to do a little haul about my favorite ones so let’s get into it!

First let me introduce you my newest liquid lipstick – Crush by Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have been waiting to get hold onto Anastasia’s lip products for ages and finally few months ago they arrived to Finland. I picked this soft beige shade which looks more like berry pudding on my lips. I am more than okay with that because it stands out from my other beige shades. I am very pleased with the quality of this lippie. It lasts the longest of all the liquid lipsticks that I own.

Rogue Allure Velvet – La Rafinée (34)

I am not really that into pink toned lipsticks but sometimes variety is the spice of life. This Chanel lipstick was my very first matte finish lip product which is why I am so attached to it. It moisturizes my lips while giving them rich but sheer look, if that makes any sense hah. I always wear this when I want to give my lips more life and color.

Left – Child Star // Right – Cool Girl

(These pictures are not doing justice for the shades. Sorry about that.)

I bought my first liquid lipstick by Too Faced when I was in London last autumn and I fell in love immediately. They are quite expensive, about 25 euros, but totally worth the money. They are really soft and rich on the lips and they don’t dry my lips at all (of course I apply lip balm before the lipstick but still). And as a small great plus, these smell amazing too.

Child Star is really smooth nude shade that looks good with any type of makeup look. Cool Girl in other hand is more brown toned. It’s my favorite shade of all lip products that I own. It’s just simply so gorgeous and I think it’s perfect for winter season. I use my Nyx lipliner in shade Naturel with it to get better result and I can tell you that it really works. Some people think lipliners are waste of money but honestly they make the look more professional and lipstick lasts twice as long when you use a lipliner.

I could keep rambling about lip products for so much longer but I don’t want to bore you more this time hah. So that’s all about my favorite lippes, thank you for stopping by and hope you all have a lovely week.

King of skin

I was shopping with my sister a while ago and we found our way to Lush store. Every time I step in there I can’t stop myself from buying something. I have few products that I buy from there regularly, but mostly I love discovering something new to try. This time I got little carried away and bought bunch of products. I wanted to do haul/review about them because Lush never lets me down and their products deserve little praising.

First before I get into the products that I bought I want to say few words about Lush. Their products are 100% vegetarian and they fight against animal testing. All their products are handmade just to make sure that everything is as fresh as possible. Also they use naked packaging. It means that most of their products don’t have package at all. The ones that are in package are made from recyclable, reusable or compostable materials. It really warms my heart that some brands put this much effort into their cosmetics, and that is why I will never stop buying (and supporting) Lush, woo!

Now after I got to share my love for them, let’s talk about the cosmetics that I bought!

This shower gel is one of those products that I keep buying over and over again. I am obsessed with the smell of it. It’s just heaven in a bottle.. Also it works well for my skin, leaving it smooth and fresh after every use. I haven’t even bothered to try other shower gels from Lush because I know none of them can beat this one, hah.

I already knew I would try this body scrub out when I saw it included avocado butter. Avocado is one of my favorite fruits so I support everything that has it in it. I have used this scrub few times now and I am really happy with it. It leaves my skin soft and smooth. I love how fresh the paste smells, but my sister couldn’t stand it. She said it smelled too clean? (what? irk!)

Cold weather mixed with my job where I need to wash my hands non-stop, ain’t good for my poor little hands. They are really dry all the time which is why this product caught my eye. Also this includes avocado too, yay. I dropped the mask into bowl and poured hot water over it, then plunged my hands there and let them soak in the creamy lotion for a long while. Honestly, it made my hands feel so soft that I definitely would use it again.

Avobath // Twilight

I am not big fan of bathing so I need my bath to look and be like a place where I really relax. To get my baths even more dashing I usually mix bath bombs and bubble bars together. I love watching the bomb to color the bath, it’s really enchanting. Also bath bombs (and bubble bars) leave lovely smell to the bathroom.

I tried my avobath one already and it colored the water green, what a surprise. It wasn’t the most beautiful bath I have been to but I had to try it out because, once again, it included avocado.

In general I think bath bombs give nice final touch for your bath. I recommend trying them out if you haven’t already!

Hope this didn’t end up too long and boring, but I just have so much love for Lush!
