Stealing style: Rachel Green from FRIENDS

I love friends and I feel like I have grown up with them even though I was very small when they originally aired. I just have this memory that they were always on the tv. I have watched all of the seasons million times (no joke) and you will forever find me re-watching them.

Through the years I have adored Rachel and her fashion choices. She was big part of the 90’s style trends and she was for sure Friends’ own style icon. Not that her style was left to the 90’s, she is still big part of the todays trends. Or well at least my closet happens to be full of similar clothes as her. And I know I am not the only one, Rachel Green kind of clothing seems to be very much in nowadays. So a blog post where I ‘steal’ Rachel’s style is more than relevant right now, am I right? I recreated three of her styles/outfits, the ones that are most timeless and well, my favorites. Let’s take a look shall we?

I think black overalls are one of her most iconic looks. They are comfy, casual and so street style. And isn’t todays fashion all about that? Denim overalls are everywhere, blue or black it doesn’t matter. I personally prefer black as you all probably know so of course I have a pair of them in my closet. And what comes to stripes? They will always stay in style. Basically this look wasn’t even a steal (maybe it was an unconscious one) as I have worn black overalls for ages with simple tees and shirts.

Plain shirts, little black skirts and black tights are something that you can see Rachel wearing through all the seasons. Her color palette was always very simple; black, grey, white and some more colorful bits here and there. Just like mine, maybe that is why her style pulls me towards so much.

As I have mentioned several times in my previous posts black tights are my thing. My closet is also full of simple shirts so putting together her very feminine black miniskirt kida look was more than easy. My shoes were perfect final touch as the 90’s vibes are all over them and I am pretty sure I have seen Rachel wearing similar ones when Paolo sent them for her from Italy.

Denim, denim, denim. Wether it was  denim overalls, a skirt or good old jeans, she knew how to rock them. It all started from the very first episode where she wore oversized pink blouse, a white tee and denim jeans. This style wasn’t hard to steal since I practically live in denim mom jeans nowadays. A white tee is something that you find from everyone’s closet and even though I don’t own soft pink blouse my mom does for sure. So I borrowed that from her and volá.

White sneakers were something that all of the characters wore through the series and that’s no surprise since they are timeless and will never go out of style.

That is all about my style icon Rachel Green and how I copy her style in daily basis. What about you? Do you also take notes from Rachel’s style consciously or unconsciously, either way. Let me know!

I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Thank you so much for reading.

  1. I LOVE this post! I watch Friends a lot and I am constantly looking at her outfits and wishing to recreate them. The one’s you chose were perfect! You pulled each one off and look beautiful! We have similar style I think. I am a neutral kind of girl with a few pieces of colour hidden in my wardrobe. xx
